New Operative Guide

This guide covers everything a new operative might need to participate in SESO engagements.

Arma 3 is easiest to use on a Windows machine. Download and install from this official Steam website. Then purchase Arma 3 at https://store.steampowered.com/app/107410/. Using Steam, install Arma 3 and follow the rest of the guide.

Arma 3 can be played on Linux but requires more steps. Linux users should follow this guide below. The rest of this article is written for Windows users. Arma_3:_Play_on_Linux

It is not possible to play Arma 3 on MacOS. The MacOS port of Arma 3 is heavily outdated and unable to join SESO servers. There may be ways to emulate the game on MacOS, which is out of reach for this guide.

Teamspeak 3 is used for the in-game proximity chat and radio chat. Without it, it is impossible to communicate with other players using a microphone.

Download and install the 64-bit Teamspeak 3 client. https://www.teamspeak.com/it/downloads/#

1. After installation, open Teamspeak 3 2. Click on “Connections” tab then choose “Connect” from the dropdown menu 3. Enter the website “sesounit.org” into the “Server Nickname or Address:” 4. Enter the secret password into the “Server Password:” field then press the “Connect” button 5. If you see this screen, you have successfully joined the S.E.S.O. teamspeak 3 server! If you are unable to connect, ask Operations Command.

Ensure the previous section, Setup Teamspeak 3, is completed before moving to this section.

1. Subscribe to the ACRE2 workshop page 2. Run the Arma 3 launcher 3. Find ACRE2 in the MODS page and check the box to the left of ACRE2 4. Click the “Load selected mods” button to load the CBA_A3 dependency If this does not pop up, ignore step 4. 5. Launch the game and ACRE2 will automatically detect Teamspeak 3 and install itself into it 6. Launch Teamspeak 3 Client and open the “Tools” menu then click on the “Options” button 7. Click on the “Addons” tab on the left-hand side 8. Make sure the button next to ACRE2 is highlighted and set to “Enabled” 9. If the steps above were done correctly, you will be automatically moved to the “In Mission” channel once the mission begins

This section will enable an operative to flaunt the SESO emblem on their in-game Arma 3 character.

1. Login to your Bohemia Interactive account in https://accounts.bistudio.com/auth NOTE: If you don't have one, either click on the Steam icon and login with your Steam account or make a BI account on that same page 2. Go to the S.E.S.O. unit page at https://units.arma3.com/unit/seso 3. Press the green “JOIN” button 4. Run the Arma 3 launcher 5. Open the Parameters menu on the left-hand side 6. Check the “Arma 3 Unit” box then select “S.E.S.O.” from the dropdown menu 7. Press the large “PLAY” button and you should see your tag and emblem appear in game
